Doreen Omosele the founder of the Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation upon her refusal to give up, made a bold decision to resume the admission of sex workers into the rehabilitation home. This decision came after the NGO had to temporarily shut down the Rehab Home due to sudden confrontations from the property owners. The foundation mentioned that detailed information about what it would be used for was given to the owners upon acquiring the property and everyone was fine until the owners started disturbing them hence they had to move out. Doreen Omosele and her team’s decision to resume admitting sex workers into the Blossom Rehab Home reflects a commitment to providing essential services and support to these girls.

It’s wonderful to hear about the Blossom Rehab Home and the efforts made to provide a safe and comfortable environment for sex workers to blossom into the best version of themselves. Securing a location within a secured estate is a great step to ensure their safety and well-being. However, this cost the NGO more than the usual rental accommodation as some millions were spent in securing the present location and setting it up. This shows a strong commitment to the cause.

The NGO is currently running with a new structure that has been designed to combat the previous mishap even as she embarks on acquiring her property in the near future. The founder expressed her gratitude to the NGO’s affiliates who indicated interest in bringing in girls for the program but had to wait a while for the NGO’s resumption. The fact that slots are being taken and the home is almost filled up is a positive sign that the services and support provided are meeting a critical need for these girls.

“I felt this opportunity was a scam when I first heard about it and people tried to discourage me from coming, but when I came, I saw with my eyes that it’s not a scam but real. I feel loved being in the Blossom House”

“I felt this opportunity was a scam when I first heard about it and people tried to discourage me from coming, but when I came, I saw with my eyes that it’s not a scam but real. I feel loved being in the Blossom House” says one of the participants of the program.

Bethie Johnson, BGOF’s Secretary and Blossom Rehab Home Admin says “I can’t express how I feel. After having waited a long time, also, trying to get a property to use and suffering a great ordeal in the hands of some real estate agents, to see that this is finally happening is heartening”

Creating a nurturing and supportive environment for sex workers to grow has always been the dream of the NGO’s founder and it is a great delight to finally see this happening this is the NGO’s contribution towards SDG goal 1 and 8 which combats poverty, give decent work and economic growth. Doreen Omosele expresses gratitude to God, her team, partners and everyone who has been supporting the NGO so far.
